This interactive panel discussion, led by Samantha Bononno and Christina Michael with input from a panel of legal and/or HR professionals, will discuss the most significant legislative updates from 2021 related to COVID-19, including federal and state laws that are affecting the workplace and HR’s obligations related to same. Additionally, the discussion will highlight the most important Supreme Court decisions of 2021 as well as the anticipated rulings of 2022, most notably its review of the Vaccine or Test requirement from the Biden administration. Finally, the group will discuss agency guidance and rulings related to COVID-19, including how the EEOC is handling COVID-19 as a disability and how the NLRB is handling vaccine mandates and testing requirements, and more.   

Speakers: Samantha Bononno, Esq. and Christina Michael, Esq.

Samantha Bononno is a partner in the Philadelphia and New Jersey office of Fisher Phillip. She focuses her litigation practice on representing employers
in a wide range of disputes including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage/hour, and FMLA claims. Samantha is also
experienced in traditional labor matters, representing employers in negotiating collective bargaining agreements, advising on contract
administration, and handling unfair labor practice charges and arbitrations. She regularly represents employers before
administrative agencies, including the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).

In addition to her litigation practice, Samantha actively counsels her clients in the areas of disability accommodations, employee leaves,
labor relations, employment and non-compete agreements, staffing contracts and severance agreements

Christina Michael is a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office whose practice includes both employment litigation and counseling. In her litigation practice, Christina handles a full range of
employment-related matters in court and administrative agencies, including cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, whistleblower claims, wage and hour
laws, and common law contract and tort claims. Christina has experience taking matters to jury trials, as well as arbitration proceedings, and has appeared before a variety of state and federal
agencies. Christina also has represented employers at the appellate level, and has briefed appeals and writs in the United States Supreme Court, the Second Circuit, and the Third Circuit.
Christina also dedicates a substantial portion of her practice to counseling employers as they address day-to-day employment law questions. She regularly advises employers on a wide variety of
matters, such as the appropriate handling of disciplinary issues, employee terminations, compliance with employment laws and regulations dealing with harassment and discrimination, worker
classification pursuant to wage and hour laws, background checks, disability and religious accommodations, creating and implementing employee handbooks and personnel policies, and
handling of labor relations. Her experience includes both unionized and non-union workplaces.
