Which one of these did you want to be when you grew up?:
- A instructional designer
- An OD practitioner
- A business consultant
- An HR partner
We're going to guess option E - none of the above. A lot of people back their way into a job and a career. Our resumes may look neat and tidy, but our lives, and our careers, really are not.
If you find yourself at work wearing a hat that includes word or phrases like "training", "organizational", "human resources", "performance", and you don't have a formal background in instructional design or education, you belong at this event. Local expert Joe Willmore, fresh off of a wave of global engagements with ATD, will guide participants through a day long seminar on how to analyze and design for employee performance.
Part one will focus on front-end analysis. With a very hands-on approach, you will learn to to identify and quantify business goals, assess performance, create objectives in measurable terms, and spot and fix performance gaps.
Part two will zoom in specifically on performance gaps and understanding top performers. This more detailed, focus session will give you guided practice in using the tools and techniques experts use to diagnose, remedy, and measure employees' work on the job. In addition, you will learn that the fastest way to improve performance is to identify exemplars/top performers, and also how to observe, measure, and interact with them so that their success can be translated into a formula that works for others.
